Some legacies are lost. Yours doesn't have to be.

The Challenge

Did you know that 70% of family businesses do not survive past the second generation, and nearly 90% disappear by the third? When they do, we lose more than livelihoods; we lose heritage, values, and community identity.

Belle Hampton's story is the exception. For most families, the ending is different.

Our Story

Over 250 years ago, a family farm in Virginia served as the heart of a thriving community. Generations grew up there, tending cattle and crops, gathering for Sunday dinners, and celebrating life’s milestones. Leaders, neighbors, and dignitaries not only visited but called it home.

By 2015, that same farm teetered on the brink of loss — barns collapsing, fields empty, the manor boarded up, its halls echoing with silence. Without intervention, the story would have ended there. But through faith, family, and the determination to preserve what matters most, Belle Hampton Farm was saved.

Today, that farm has become the living heart of the Belle Hampton Legacy Center, where heritage fuels hope and one family’s rescue story is inspiring many others.

You Can Make a Difference

Every year, family businesses dissolve, family farms close, and historic homes fall not from lack of love, but from lack of support. Your gift to the Belle Hampton Legacy Center is the intervention that changes the outcome.

Each donation fuels our mission to:

  • Preserve the family enterprises, farms, and historic homes that anchor Virginia's communities and identity

  • Educate the next generation of family leaders through hands-on workshops and forums on succession, governance, and stewardship

  • Inspire families to see their own history not as something behind them but as the foundation for everything ahead

What you give today protects what took generations to build.

Become a Guardian of Legacy

Your generosity safeguards not just buildings, but the spirit of stewardship itself.

“When you preserve a place, you protect a story. When you inspire a family, you build the future.”

A Different Kind of Giving

This is not transactional philanthropy.
It is stewardship.

Not All Donations Fit in an Envelope

The Belle Hampton Legacy Center accepts in-kind donations only with prior approval, ensuring each contribution aligns with our mission of historic preservation, family education, and community engagement. Every approved gift, whether historic artifacts, documents, or relevant to historic preservation, becomes a tangible act of stewardship, helping preserve the past while equipping future generations to lead and care for what endures.
