A Hauntingly Historic Afternoon at Belle Hampton Farm

Spirits Along the Wagon Road returns to Belle Hampton Farm for an afternoon of living history. More than a dozen “spirits” will share stories of the people and events that shaped Southwest Virginia.

You may encounter Eleanor Howe during a dramatic moment on the front porch, hear Governor James Hoge Tyler deliver a stump speech, or meet James Mayo Hoge, founder of the farm. Michael Price recounts his unusual injury at the Battle of Cloyd’s Mountain, while World War I hero Elliott Hampton Howe and other figures share their own stories. Dr. Charles Pepper joins the cast with a tale about his possible connection to the famous soft drink.

Tour times: Every half hour from 2:00 through 5:30 p.m. (arrive 15 minutes early)
