Spirits Along the Wagon Road:
A Hauntingly Historic Afternoon at Belle Hampton Farm
Step back in time—if you dare—for an unforgettable afternoon where legends rise, lanterns flicker, and history walks among us. The Annual Spirits Along the Wagon Road returns, but this time at Belle Hampton Farm, blending spine-tingling storytelling with rich educational experiences, all to benefit The Wilderness Road Regional Museum.
Meet the Spirits of Southwest Virginia
As the sun settles over the pastures, you’ll encounter spectral visitors from centuries past:
Governor James Hoge Tyler beckoned from the pages of Virginia's gubernatorial legacy.
Dr. Charles Pepper, the man behind the myth and medicine.
Eleanor Howe, keeper of ancestral secrets.
A noble Cherokee guide, honoring the region’s deep indigenous roots.
…and other phantoms whose tales still echo down the Wilderness Road.
These "spirits" will share dramatic first-person accounts, bringing to life the triumphs, tragedies, and turning points that shaped our region—and perhaps left behind a lingering soul or two.
